Increase in the Production Capacities for Erosion Machines

20/09/2004

The world market leader in spark erosion MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC CORPORATION has increased its production figures up to 300 units per month. The reason behind this is the increasing worldwide demand, especially in Japan where sales are picking up dramatically.

To meet this demand, MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC CORPORATION, Nagoya Works has considerably increase their production this summer. At short notice they have adapted the production capacities, which is caused particularly through the high rise in the domestic demand and one whole additional production line has been built in order to increase the output. In addition new employees, as well as workers on temporary loan were deployed to enable MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC CORPORATION to react to the changed market conditions at short notice. The actual production schedule now provides for the completion of approx. 300 erosion machines per month – starting in September 2004. This equates to an increase of more than 40%, compared to April of the previous year. The share of the wire EDM machines in the entire production volume amounted to 120 – 130 machines in April; starting from September, approx. 200 wire EDM machines per month will be completed. The production of spark erosion machines was increased to 100 units per month as compared to 60-70 units in April 2004. The reason behind this development can particularly be put down to the resounding success of the wire EDM machine series FA-S presented in Japan in April for the first time as well as to the increased demand in high-precision machines such as the PA20 in electrical wire discharge machining or the EA-P in spark erosion. The FA10-S and FA20-S machines hold the essential share in the production of high-quality universal electrical wire cutting machines, which are used in many companies to expand their capacities. Since the presentation of this machine in Japan, the market share of the MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC CORPORATION could be expanded to more than 40 %. A market share in Japan of almost 50% is planned for the business year 2005. This appears to be extremely realistic in view of the actual sales figures.
