New software - Invisible Supports

Arcam’s field proven EBM S12T system, based on a 4 KW electron beam source, enables fast direct manufacturing of complex parts with material specifications to manufacturing standards. Typical applications are high end automotive, aerospace and medical implants manufacturing.

The new software with the recently launched “Invisible Supports” function sets new standards for direct manufacturing of complex parts. The software enables building of large complex parts without solid supports. This reduces the need for adding supports in jobs and finishing after building. The Invisible Supports function enables the stacking of parts and dramatically reduces powder waste, resulting in higher productivity.  The new functionality is included in all new systems and is available as a retrofit for existing systems.

Arcam CAD to Metal, Inc.

Arcam announces the incorporation of Arcam CAD to Metal, Inc. The company is established to strengthen service, application support and supply for US customers. The expansion follows strong US sales in 2004 and continued good projections for 2005.

- The US, the largest and most active market for Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing equipment, is very important to Arcam and I am glad we now take this important step to work locally on this market, says Magnus René, CEO of Arcam.

Arcam in Gothenburg, Sweden, is a high-tech company offering Free Form Fabrication (FFF) equipment for direct manufacturing of parts in metals. The equipment is used for direct manufacturing of production parts and functional prototypes for aerospace, automotive and medical applications. The technology offers significant reductions of lead time and cost.
